Description:
At first glance, one would assume this to be one of Henry’s .22 lever rifles. However, it is in fact a Ithaca Model 72. This rifle was made in West Germany between 1973 and 1978 for Ithaca Gun Co. When Ithaca Gun Co. went into bankruptcy in 2005, Henry bought the rights to produce the Model 72 and still produce them to this day although not under the same model name. This example appears to have been used as a squirrel gun for many years. The rear sight’s elevator was removed to make room for the scope. A hammer extension has been added for ease of use. The scope is a Tasco 3-12x40mm type. It has some wear on the body but the view through it is excellent. The wood furniture exhibits moderate wear to the finish and some light scrapes. The right side of the lever has one spot of pitting. The magazine tube exhibits several smalls spots of pitting on the underside. The barrel has no rust or pitting present. The action operates very well. The bore is in pristine shape with no rust or pitting, though a small amount of powder residue remains. It comes with a very nice leather sling. There is no box.
