The Model 1910 sporting rifle is scarce as many more military and target rifles were produced. This rifle has approx. 98% blue with slight trigger guard, buttplate, and muzzle wear. The 26.5"" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling with some frosting in the grooves that will clean better. The front sight is a blade and the rear is a single leaf folding graduated from 0 to 500. The top of the receiver is marked ROSS RIFLE CO. over CANADA over M-1910 over PATENTED. The top of the chamber is stamped .280 ROSS over PROOVED 28 TONS with MADE IN CANADA followed by the serial number below. The crossed pennant Dominion of Canada proof mark is on the right side of the chamber. The top of the receiver bridge has a receiver peep sight. The peep can be stowed or deployed. The checkered walnut stock with Schnabel forend tip is excellent. It has a couple of small chips around the left side of the transverse stock bolt. It is equipped with forward sling eye and a rear swivel. The steel buttplate has a fine checkering. The action functions correctly. NOTE: Do not disassemble this rifle unless you are completely familiar with correct bolt reassembly as it is possible to assemble the Model 1910 so that the bolt is not locked for firing. This fine Ross sporting rifle one of the nicest we have seen and is in a caliber noted for its accuracy. SOLD |
