Description:
Fine+ Winchester model 1873 carbine, .44-40, 20" barrel. Serial #520155B, 1898 manufacture. Excellent+ bright bore, metal overall is smooth and retains most of the original factory finish with the original blue darkening and mixing with age patina brown. The frame has some trivial thinning to the finish mostly on the left side. All markings are clear and crisp, brass block retains "44 CAL.", as well as top of barrel at breech "44 W.C.F.". Mechanics are excellent, original sights. Wood is excellent overall with oil staining. Correct carbine buttplate with compartment containing the original cleaning rod which appears to have never been removed. Saddle ring present, original dust cover. This is an above average conditioned Winchester '73 carbine as these were generally hard used, a really nice looking Winchester carbine.
