This is a neat and scarce World War 2 German K98 rifle made by Mauser Borsigwalde in 1936 that was refurbished by Mitchell's Mausers. This 1936-production K98 is a "S/243" code rifle, the German wartime code for the Mauser Factory in Borsigwalde at that time. There were only about 35,000 K98's made by this factory in 1936, and VERY few survived the entire length of the war much less made it to the States to be available on the collector's market today. This particular rifle is a "Collector Grade" rifle from Mitchell's Mausers, meaning that it has been refurbished/overhauled with a matching numbered bolt, floorplate, triggerguard, and stock to match the barrel and action. All of the metal parts have been refinished with a "military" blue finish, the bolt was polished bright, and the stock was sanded/refinished. This K98 is in excellent mechanical condition and has a great bore with sharp rifling. The action is slick and locks up tight with perfect headspace. All of the controls on this K98 are in perfect working order. This S/243 code K98 would be the perfect choice for someone who wants an original WW2-production K98 that is handsome enough for display, yet one that you could take to the range or farm and shoot without worry about harming it's collectible value. This K98 comes with the original Mitchell's Mausers "Letter of Provenance" certificate.
