Description:
This is a 100% original and all-matching World War 2 German Military FN Browning Model 1935 High Power 9mm pistol made in 1944 during the Nazi occupation of Belgium.  This 9mm High Power pistol is just how it left the factory and is fitted with the rare checkered brown Bakelite factory grips.  Designated the P.640b model by the German Military, the FN Browning High Power has long been considered one of the finest 9mm handguns ever made, and certainly one of the best pistols fielded by any nation in World War 2.  This example is one of the last guns made under German occupation, often referred to as a "fixed sight variation" by collectors.  These semi-automatic pistol featured all steel construction, a 4 & 21/32" inch barrel, a somewhat dull "military blue" factory finish over a progressively less polished surface, fixed 50 meter iron sights, a ring-style hammer, a right side-mounted thumb safety and slide stop, a 13-round double-stack magazine, and either checkered Walnut or checkered brown Bakelite grips (on very late production guns only).  This particular gun is serial number 30505b, one of the very last guns made under Nazi occupation before the Germans were pushed out of Belgium.  It is in excellent mechanical condition but shows a lot of superficial finish wear but little to no pitting. This is what you would expect to see on an issued and combat-used pistol that was carried by one side or the other for the better part of two years in-theatre.  As this is one of the last guns made for the German Military at the FN plant, the finish was not very good to start with and there was very little effort put into the polishing of the metal prior to the bluing being done.  This High Power still shows a little of the factory military blue in the protected areas, with the balance appearing mostly gray-blue.  All of the original factory markings are still clean and legible, all of the serial-numbered parts are factory stamped and matching, and all of the German Military Waffenamts (WaA140) and the firing proof are still intact and visible.
