Description:

Rare Remington Model 1907-15 berther rifle sporterized and sold by Remington after WWI. Remington made fewer than 100,000 Model 1907-15 berthier rifles for the French in WWI. Some were delivered and accepted by France. They can be identified by the serial number, which the French added. The majority of the remaining rifles were bought by the U.S. government and used to train and equp several regiments of the U.S. African American soldiers who fought with, and were commanded by, the French. After the war, Remington had a few left over Model 1907-15 berthier rifles. True to form of gunmakers of the period, they didn't let them go to waste. The sporterized and sold them. this is one of those rifles. The approximately 25½"" round 9mm Lebel cartridge barrel has an excellent bore. In addition to the 6"" shorter than standard barrel, the bolt handle is turned down, and the nose cap is modified. Metal is excellent with approximately 95% blue. Stock is fine with no cracks or chips. The front and rear sling swivels are present. The Remington markings on the receiver and barrel are crisp and strong. The action functions correctly. Here's your chance to own a Remington that is missing from most collections.
