This is a really nice quality Belgian Sporting Rifle , with great craftsmanship and wood. The part of Ballard in heading is someone had a craftman make a loop lever for this dropping action. Which is .360 rook caliber and one can also use .38 long. It has a 28 inch octagon barrel with all the fine original bluing and some light frecking about 10 inches ,or so, on right flat rear. Case coloring on receiver has faded. My old eyes have trouble seeing bore condition, but its a 6 ,or 7, maybe better ( lots of fine rifling ). One must cock open action in order to open for cartridge. And lever is held to keep closed for use. A little adjustment to make lever tighter ( photo shows area ) , would be easy for a perfectionist. This piece has the early ELG without the crown on oval which is an early black powder proof ( antique ) . I selll antique guns for collecting and display pieces. If intending to shoot one must have a gunsmith check for safety and correct load. Even though an antique, there are places ,I cannot ship and do not try ordering.
