Less than 24,000 made! MUST SEE!!!. Superb, rare example for the NAVY, of the beautiful FN ABL 1952 (on the receiver) Short Mauser Rifle 23'' barrel, supplied to Belgium in cal 30.06 with the factory machined notch in the receiver ring. The Belgian Navy used far less rifles than any other branches. With the Korean war; had to replaced the Enfield rifles with the FN 49 in 30.06 to match the US M1 rifles but this option was too costly. Since the 30.06 was very available; almost 24,000 (21%) FN rifles were ordered in 1950-51-52 in 30.06. Condition: Excellent quality and craftsmanship made by FNH. From my personal collection. Crisp markings; on the left side of the receiver " FAB. NAT. D'ARMES de GUERRE HESTAL-BELGIQUE" , Perron proof "s" inspector mark for Charles Daenen (19552-68), right side SN and the Crown B ABL 1952 on the receiver ring. This is a superb example; MATCHING, ORIGINAL, CORRECT MILITARY CONFIGURATION, exposed medal, very clean gun without pitting, MATCHING numbered bolt handle (hard to find matching bolt handle); straight bolt is in the white as it is proper for this variant with a clean face with NO pitting, NO rings around the firing pin hole, with the proper proof markings, the lion "PV" stand for "Poudre Vive" (smokeless powder) meaning that it withstood excess pressure without deformation and the "Perron proof" as the final inspection, on the base of the handle with peppery pinprick tiny aging spots on cocking piece. Ribbed buttplate in great condition with usual scratches-handling marks and tiny aging spots. All medal in the same condition with the usual scratches-handling marks. Cleaning rod appears to have a crown marking and a 2 digit number; it has a few scattered very fine pits. NO import marking observed. The action is smooth and seem to be in good working order; cocks on close. Bore is smooth with strong rifling, shinier lands, light gray groves. The MATCHING numbered Wood Buttstock has an Outstanding grain of beautiful wood; it is solid, excellent condition with NO CRACKS, NO GAUGES, with few scattered minimal bruises, scuffs, scratches-handling marks. The matching tone handguard is in great shape with a very few scattered minimal bruises, scratches-handling marks. It will take the M1903 30.06 stripper clips. Book pictures for reference only. Overall a very fine example of a well crafted FNH Crown B, ABL 1952, made Short rifle, MATCHING, parkerized, ORIGINALLY in 30.06 (less than 24,000 made) for the Belgian NAVY with a GORGEOUS wood grain. This would make a fine addition to your Mauser Collection!!! Please e-mail with any questions or more pictures to ms18911909gmail or call my Cell: 912-659-1404. Please see other listings.
