GERMANIC Antique ST. BLASIEN Infantry Musket
AKA Baden Conversion Musket
Here we present an antique St. Basien Conversion Smoothbore Military Musket, made circa the Mid-19th Century in modern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. This infantry musket was produced at St. Blasien as a flintlock and later converted to percussion. It was clearly based upon the French “Charleville”, a popular and reliable weapon during this period.
The lock is marked “S. BLASIEN”. Government inspection marks on the left side of the barrel.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are legible. The stock shows much use, especially near the buttplate, with a replacement piece behind the hammer and a general refinish. The bore is smooth and dark. Percussion nipple is absent. The action on this musket is strong.
