ORNATE Engraved Ottoman Flintlock MARTIAL Pistol
Here we present an antique Ottoman Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1800. Pistols like these were commonly used around the Mediterranean in the 18th and early 19th Centuries. This would have been like those weapons carried by Tripolitan pirates when the young United States sent the Marines to take care of them. This is a large pistol used for fighting but it was also a status symbol with its engravings and wire inlay in the stock.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings and engravings are clear. The stock is carved and has seen much use. There are some very old repairs and there is no movement in any of them. The smooth bore is dark. The action is strong and crisp. This would be a great addition to for anyone interested in the US Marine Corps or pirates.
