Description:
This Johnson 1941 rifle is a true piece of WWII history. At the end of WWII, the Marine Corps parachute regiments disbanded, who were one of the few units issued the Johnson rifles. The remaining Johnson rifles were collected by the Marine Corps Quartermaster in San Diego. It was there that Melvin Johnson, repurchased 125 rifles and refurbished them to sell in the "American Rifleman" magazine. The state of this rifle implies it could be one of those 125 rifles. There is obvious pockets of pitting that appear to be factory re-phosphated. The receiver and stock have matching three-digit serials, all the rest of the components are not matching, but do not have prefix letters in the serial #'s placing all the parts within the first serial number production block in 1941. All serials range from 28X-60XX. This rifle includes a serialized sheath and bayonet.Excellent history and indentification records can be found here: ://johnsonautomatics/
