Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: EXCEPTIONALLY FINE CONDITION AND EXTREMELY RARE UNALTERED MODEL 1898 KRAG SADDLE RING CARBINE, only 5,000 of these were made in 1898 and nearly all were later converted to the Model 1899 style having stocks without the saddle/sling ring bar etc., very few unaltered 1898 survived, this is one of the best I've seen, it is in the correct serial range of 126XXX, it is excellent in all regards retaining deep barrel blue and exc. bore that is only slightly dark, amazingly this one still retains the "oil quenching" case hardened receiver "blue/black" coloration that usually fades to gray very rapidly, bright blue on the extractor, bottom of the trigger guard turning gray/brown with fine blue on the front and rear sections, barrel band and butt plate retain fine blue and still has the three piece cleaning rod in the butt, only the handguard is of the 2nd. late style as found on the 1899 model, according to Brophy's book on the Krag this forend was used as a replacement by the arsenals on models 1896 and 1898 carbines, exc. wood with a good circle P proof behind the trigger guard and only a hint of the side stock cartouche, correct "C" marked 1898 carbine rear sight SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: SPRINGFIELD Model: 1898 KRAG CARBINE Serial Number: 126XXX Caliber Info: .30-40 Condition: Excellent Barrels: 22 |
