Early Production Volcanic Lever Action Navy Pistol
Description: Serial #358, .41 Volcanic, 8" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome pistol that has matching numbers on the frame, grip panels, and lever. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 20-30% of the original blue, mostly on protected areas, with the balance turned to a smooth plum-brown patina that has thin silvering at the muzzle, as well as along the edges of the barrel facets. The brass frame has a mellow ochre patina throughout, with some minor impact marks along the leading edge of the sideplate on the right side. A good amount of the original nitre blue remains on the top of the cartridge lifter block, and the hammer and lever have traces of muted original color case-hardening remaining. The walnut grips are in very good shape with some light-moderate handling marks and bruises present in the original finish on both panels. The action of the pistol is tight and fully functional. This is a high condition Volcanic pistol. Antique SOLD |
