1923-42 Vintage Stevens Offhand Model 35 "Tip Up" .22 Pistol
** Beautiful Example ** SOLD
Description: The Offhand Model 35 was J. Stevens Arms Company's last pistol in this single shot "tip up" style. They were made between 1923 and 1942, after which the model line was finally discontinued. This attractive and honest .22 Rimfire example features a 6" inch barrel and a factory gloss-blue finish, with a beautiful factory "fire blue" finish on the hammer and trigger. It is an all-original gun and has not been modified or "improved" in any way. The original blue finish rates 85 to 90% with some minor finish wear but no major damage. The bore is very good in this Stevens, with nice sharp rifling throughout the barrel with only a touch of light pitting in the 1st third of the bore. The original sights are still intact and in excellent condition, and the original smooth American Walnut grips are in very good condition, free from cracks, chips, or repairs. Both grip panels are perfectly fit and tight to the gun, and show just a small amount of varnish wear consistent with the overall patina of the pistol. We do not see many of these Offhand Model 35's in this condition as most of them were used hard and not maintained very well. This Stevens would be a great addition to any vintage firearms collection, and would also make an excellent first pistol for a young shooter that they could keep as an investment and heirloom.
