Springfield Armory slide with 1917 Colt 1911 frame
Description: Springfield Armory 1911 with 1917 Colt Frame and internals. Major Gilbert H. Stewart who was the inspector at Springfield from 9/30/1914 to 1/12/1918. I believe this pistol was a special build while Major Stewart was at SpringfieldArmory. The left side of the frame has no United Sates Property stamp. The frame apears to be all Colt and it shows Major Stewart Inspector mark on left side of frame. Mr. Hosmer H is on the top of the frame along with the G indicating govenment contract. The barrel is the correct P H and the bore is mirror bright. The walnut stocks are plain and shown in the picture which may be the originals. The finish is highly polished bright blue. The magizine is marked Ramond Enginnering Corp marked R on the toe. Colt produced 13,786 in 1917 a fairly low production run for this year in this sequence. Stallion Firearms 810-922-4279.
