Smith & Wesson K 38 1950 Post-War Masterpiece 5-Screw with Later-Model 5-3/4 Inch Full Lug Barrel
Description:
A Shooter and Collector’s Used/ Custom/ Modified; Circa 1950; Serial # K 88,9XX; Smith & Wesson .38 Special; Pre-Model 14; Five-Screw Sideplate Revolver; with a Later Model 5-3/4 Inch Full Underlug Smith & Wesson Barrel – possibly from one of the Model 14-5 .38s made in the 1990s – or modified and re-marked from a Full-Lug L-Frame; Solid Serrated Rib & Sight Tang; Windage & Elevation Click-Adjustable Target Rear Sight; 1/8-Inch-Wide Baughman Ramp, Quick-Draw, Front Sight with Red Insert; Four-Line Address on the Frame; Large S&W Monogram on the Sideplate; Serrated Front- and Backstrap. The entire gun has been polished, refinished and reblued in the past leaving the frame markings sharp and legible, but not as deep as original. The barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the Left Side; “38 SPECIAL” on the Right Side -- on non-factory re-marked/machined Flats. This Revolver has a Wide Checkered (Low Spur) Hammer; Wide Serrated Trigger. The Barrel is Pinned, has a Wide, Matte, Serrated Solid Raised Rib, and the Cylinder has a Matching Serial Number on the Rear Face. The Bore is Like-New; and the Chambers are Bright, Shiny and Like-New as well. The Reblued Finish on the Frame shows hardly any wear for its age as shown in the photographs – with a minimal cylinder line, and other evidence of handling with little live ammunition firing; Exterior Barrel Finish (not the bore) shows some tool marks.. As described in reference works, the unusual transverse hole through the bottom strap (behind the grip locator pin) indicates this frame was configured for a lanyard loop before it’s selection as a rimfire-target model. Grips are Later S&W Oversize Smooth Target Style; Matching Wood Grain; that cover the Frontstrap. Not being dealers or experts, and because it was re-barreled and re-finished, condition is best judged from the photos. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be troublesome and costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees (greater than $150) after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Air Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
