AUSSIE PROOFED World War II SMITH & WESSON Model K-200 .38-200 Revolver C&R LEND/LEASE ACT U.S. Property Marked with HOLSTER
Description: AUSSIE PROOFED World War II SMITH & WESSON Model K-200 .38-200 Revolver C&R LEND/LEASE ACT U.S. Property Marked with HOLSTER Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson K-200 .38-200 British Service Revolver, made circa 1940-45 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This revolver is similar to the U.S. Smith & Wesson “Victory” model revolvers and made for the British Commonwealth countries. It features a .38 S&W-200 grain bullet. This example is marked with the Smith & Wesson logo and “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the frame. From the spring of 1940 until April of 1942, four, five, and six inch barrels were supplied on the .38-200 revolvers. The initial finish was commercial blue, and later became a duller brush blue. And after the 1942 date, smooth wooden stocks replaced the checkered ones with a silver medallion. At that time, the finish changed to a Parkerized look called Midnight Black, and only 5 inch barrels were furnished. The British wanted 5 inch guns due to Enfield and Webley revolvers also had 5 inch barrels, and the Pattern 1937 holsters were made only for barrels of that length. Typically, but not always, these will have British military marks on the revolver. A significant number of these were converted to .38 Special for sale back to the American market, though this one remains in the original .38-200 chambering. The .38-200 cartridge was developed by Smith & Wesson in 1877. Versions of the cartridge were the standard revolver cartridges of the British military from 1922 to 1963. Though similar in name, it is not interchangeable with the later .38 Special due to a different case shape and slightly larger bullet diameter. This example has “D/(broad arrow)/D” Australian proof marks and “FTR/MA54” 1954 Lithgow factory thorough repair marked right of the frame. Import marked left of frame and includes a leather holster. The overall condition is fine. Fine Parkerization and case colors. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid with some expected handling wear across the checkering. The numbers match. The holster is fine. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .38-200 (.38 S&W) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee.
