1983 Vintage Smith & Wesson Model 659 9mm Pistol w/ Box, Manuals, Etc.
** MINT & UNFIRED BEAUTY! * SOLD
Description: This is a spectacular all-original and unfired Smith & Wesson Model 659 semi-automatic pistol in 9mm Luger complete with the original box, owner's manual, and extra magazine. First introduced in 1982, the Smith & Wesson Model 659 was the firm's stainless steel version of the Model 459 and it remained in production for 6 years until 1988. It quickly proved to be a superb pistol, extremely reliable, accurate, durable, and very well-made. The stainless steel construction made it particularly attractive to anyone that operated in adverse environments or required extended service between cleanings. This particular example is serial number A836571 which was made in the second year of production, 1983. This DA/SA semi-automatic pistol features all stainless steel construction with a two-tone polished/matte finish design, a 4" inch barrel, a 14-round double-stack magazine, a slide-mounted safety/de-cocking lever, black checkered plastic grips, and drift-adjustable combat-style iron sights. This example has a special order ambidextrous safety/de-cocking lever on it, with that option not becoming standard until 1986. As mentioned before, this Model 659 appears to be unfired since leaving the factory and is in mint condition, rating 99%. It is also as complete as possible as it is still intact with everything it shipped from the factory with, also in like-new condition. As you can see from the pictures, this Smith looks like it was shipped from the factory last week rather than 38 years ago. If not for one little shiny spot from box wear on the front of the underside of the trigger guard and a couple of tiny little storage marks on the left grip panel it would be 100%. These marks do not detract any appreciable amount from the pristine overall look of this pistol. The bore in this 659 is mirror-bright and perfect, with like-new sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no visible imperfections of any kind. The slide-to-frame fitment is exceptional, and the action is slick, smooth, and precise. Barrel lock-up is perfect without any slop, and all of the controls on this Smith are like-new, crisp, and in perfect working order. This Model 659 should perform just as well today as the day it left the factory in 1983. If you have been looking for a minty "collector grade" Smith & Wesson Model 659 to put up into your collection here is your chance to get the best one we have seen in years.
