S&W Single-Shot Model of 1891 Pistol (1st Model Single-Shot)
Description:
Serial #17878, .22 LR, 10" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves towards the breech. This pistol has matching numbers on the frame and barrel, with the metal retaining 80-85% of the original blue finish, with some speckled, plum-brown freckling scattered about, and some gray fading and silvering at the muzzle, as well as along the high edges and projections. The hammer retains bright original color case-hardening, while the trigger guard has a mostly pewter gray patina, with some muted color case-hardening still visible. The barrel has the "MODEL OF 91" rib marking, and has a period replacement front sight blade. The checkered, hard rubber grips are in near excellent shape, with only minor wear, mainly at the butt, and very little flattening of the points. The lock-up is firm, and there is no noticeable amount of lateral play in the barrel. This is a fine example of a desirable, 1st Model S&W Single-Shot Target overall. FFL or C&R
