This is a hyper-accurate (in external appearance) replica of the Vietnam-Era Ruger MAC Mark 1 integrally suppressed pistol used by Special Forces, SEALS, CIA, etc. This was esentially a replacement for the High Standard "OSS" pistols used during WWII. There is less information available, and these are more rare than the High Standard pistols. For an excellent article with more information and history of these, see David Truby's article in Small Arms Review (see photo #2). You should easily be able to find the article online. These intentionally had a shorter tube to look more like a standard target pistol, and less like a suppressed pistol. The host pistol for this build is an original/correct Ruger Mark 1 Target, in near-mint original condition/finish. There are a few very minor scuffs that are unavoidable due to the machining process required, not noticeable if you are not looking for them. For this project, I was able to photograph and measure with dial calipers an original MAC Mark 1 pistol (photo #3-4). It features the following exactly correct features: Blued suppressor tube, 5.6" long. Front cap with correct diameter and knurling, soldered on front sight with correct shape and height made from the pistol's original front sight, correct alignment mark and set screw at rear of suppressor tube, serial number with correct "S13" prefix, and correct placement, spacing, font. The original pistols were not serviceable and considered "disposable" when they filled up with fouling and got loud. This pistol features modern internals consisting of 3" non-ported barrel and 6 modern aluminum "K" baffles. The sound suppression is similar to modern suppressors of similar size. It is easily disassembled for servicing as any modern suppressor. Each pistol will include an uncirculated/new copy of Small Arms Review May 2005 with David Truby's article--------------------------------------This is a fully functioning suppressor and subject to all NFA rules, as is any suppressor.
