Here we present a Remington .41 cal. rimfire Double Barrel Derringer. The barrel rib top bears the single line inscription "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION N.Y.". This is the 1888 Third Model. Remington adapted a number system for every model. The serial number of this piece is 247 which would place production of this piece circa 1888-1889. The Double Derringer was known as the Model 95. The Double Deringer was made by Remington from 1865-1935, which is a testament to the design as well as Americans’ desire to carry a concealed weapon. The Deringer was sturdily built and simple in operation. A lever on the right side of the frame swings so that the barrels may open upward on a hinge for loading and unloading. There is a single firing pin that moves from one barrel to another with each cock.
The overall condition is very good. Original patina of a factory nickel plated piece. Strong action, good bore, perfect hinge, and both grips are in good shape with expected amounts of handling. Sharp markings. This comes with a period footed burl walnut storage box and 6 live rounds of ammo and 2 spent brass cases. Fresh out of a Middle Tennessee estate and appears in a Gentleman’s presentation box that once set in a place of prominence. This piece qualifies as an antique produced prior to 1898. For payment I will accept personal checks, money orders, certified check or cashiers’ check, all major credit cards. Credit cards are acceptable with a 4% up-charge for processing.
