World War II Nazi German P.38 Pistol in 9mm Luger
Description: World War II Nazi German P.38 Pistol in 9mm Luger “cyq” by Spreewerke w Fine Military Flap Holster Here we present a World War II Nazi German “cyq” Code P.38 by Spreewerke, made circa August 1943. The P38 was designed by Walther to replace the Luger P.08 as the standard service weapon for the Third Reich’s Wermacht. The Wermacht was the primary buyer of these pistols, but the German police also used about 6,800 P38s.The Luger was a ground-breaking design, but quite expensive to produce. The P38 was the first locking breech pistol to feature the double/single action firing mechanism with a decocking safety lever, a prelude to many modern pistols to come. It also features a loaded chamber indicator that is both visible and tactile, extending out of the top rear of the slide, just above the hammer. The falling block locking mechanism was also carried into future pistol designs. Many of these design features are found in the Beretta 92 or U.S. M9 pistols. This P38 Pistol was made by Spreewerke, which is indicated by the “cyq” code name on the slide of the pistol. It was made circa August of 1943. It features red-brown Bakelite grips. Magazine is Third Reich proofed. The accompanying heavy leather military flap holster is marked “Rutgerber Lederwaren”. The inside of the flap has both pencil marking and a red ink marking that states “MADE IN BELGIUM”. The overall condition is fine. The original blue finish is about 90%. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match on the barrel and slide, though the frame is 10 numbers later, most likely an error at the factory as this pistol appears to have always been together. The grips are fine. The bore is very good with strong rifling. The action is excellent. The holster is fine. Here is a great example of a WWII Nazi German P.38 Pistol for your collecting and shooting pleasure. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4-7/8 inches. Caliber: 9x19mm Luger Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING.
