CYQ Spreewerk P-38 Pistol in 9mm **FN Volkssturm Slide Rare - Acceptance Stamp on Slide - Import Marked **

**SOLD**For consideration is a CYQ Spreework P-38 semi auto pistol in 9mm. The P-38 was manufactured by three Germany companies, Walther (AC), Mauser (BYF) & Spreewerk (CYQ). Metallwarenfabrik Spreewerk GmbH was a German weapons manufacturing company with factories in Spandau, Germany and Grottau, Czechoslovakia. Spreewerk produced a number of important weapons and components before and during WW2 including 280,880 of the Walther designed P-38 pistol, which was the standard service pistol of the German Heer (Army) and the famous 88 Flak/ anti-tank gun. This pistol was made for the Volkssturm national militia. The Volkssturm was a levée en masse national militia established by Nazi Germany during the last months of World War II. It was set up by the Nazi Party on the orders of Adolf Hitler and established on 25 September 1944. It was staffed by conscripting males between the ages of 16 and 60 years, who were not already serving in some military unit. The Volkssturm comprised one of the final components of the total war promulgated by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, part of a Nazi endeavor to overcome their enemies' military strength through force of will. Volkssturm units fought unsuccessful battles against the Allied forces at the end of the war and on several occasions, its members participated in atrocities accompanied by German civilians and the Hitler Youth, which were overseen by members of the SS or Gau leaders. This particular example is in very good condition both physically and mechanically. A little high edge wear and handling marks exist on the pistol but nothing serious. The barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. The bakelite grips are free of cracks or chips and the pistol appears to have been dipped at some point when captured. Estimated quantity are about 700 and very few have the E/140 acceptance mark. This is a very unique pistol and it would make a great addition to a collection of militaria.
