Very Rare Savage M1907 Military Test Trials Pistol
Description: This is a very rare Savage M1907 that was produced to compete against the Colt M1911 in the U.S. military pistol test trials. One of only 288 produced, this is an example that went back to Savage after they lost out on the contract and reworked for commercial sale. The rejected guns are often found with mixed number parts, such as this one, and the legend removed from the rib. This particular pistol is listed by serial number in Meadows' book and states it was shipped to Troop I, 3rd Cavalry in Fort Wingate, New Mexico, after being reconditioned at Savage. During the reconditioning process, these pistols were given a dull matte finish, like the one seen here. This particular example shows a general thinning throughout but still retains a very nice aesthetic. Very nice wood grips with minor smoothing but no cracks or chips. Correct magazine, which is serialized '89' on the spine. Curio/Relic: Yes Handgun Caliber: .45 ACP (.45 Auto) Price: $13,500.00 Contact Seller |
