Scarce, 1941 RS-Marked Colt 1911A1 - With Veteran Docs
Description: This is an excellent example of a hard-to-find Colt M1911A1, manufactured in 1941 with proper RS inspectors mark. There were only ~35,000 Colt 1911's produced that year, which is a very low production number for Colt 1911's in general. The RS - Robert Sears inspector proof is very rare and desirable for Colt collectors. This pistol is all correct with proper markings and matching numbered slide. Colt barrel with a small "G" under the lug. The gun's original finish rates about 94% with minor high edge wear with some thinning and spotty brown patina on the front strap. The bore has good rifling with very light pin-pricking throughout. This particular gun comes to us with a bunch of veteran records and docs attributed to a Thomas J. Kelly. Thomas enlisted on December 3, 1941 and served with the 44th Infantry Division in Chemical Mortar Unit in France, Germany, and Austria, as a mortar gun crewman. While there is nothing officially tying this gun to Thomas, the consignor told us he acquired this from the family. Included in the assembly is an original photo of Thomas, an official War-Navy Departments "Official Records" envelope, a Soldier's Individual Pay Record Booklet, a US Army Separation Qualification Record, Honorable Discharge paperwork, a letter from the White House, and a certificate for a dedication of a parish service flag on St. Bridgets Parish in Philadelphia on Sunday, January 17, 1943.
