This is a GI 1911A1 .45acp manufactured by Ithaca in 1943 for the US Government. It has a Remington Rand slide - probably mismatched during a battlefield cleaning session. Serial number is 1888779. Magazine is a late GI post war replacement. Pistol has an H&R GI barrel with a very good bore. Came from the estate of a WII vet. An honest GI .45. It was issued; it saw wartime use; and it was brought back by the GI who used it.
