US Military Drake National Match Pistol

SOLD PENDING FUNDS: This is a US Military produced National Match pistol with a Remington Rand Frame and a very rare Drake Manufacturing Company slide. Drake made slides for use by the US Army Marksmanship Unit to allow assembly of match guns. It is in .45 ACP caliber with a 5" barrel. This N.M. is in excellent original condition rated at 98%. The frame has the "FJA" inspector cartouche (Col. Frank J. Attwood) Army ordnance for Remington Rand. It has the Match markings on the left side of the frame of the following: "T" (targeted), SA (Springfield arsenal built), and NM (National match on the forward right trigger guard bow). The slide is marked "Drake Manufacturing Co. and NM 7791435 part number. The barrel is marked "45 AUTO, NM7791414 and the serial number of the frame 1021573. The barrel bushiung is NM7267718.The rear sight is marked Elliason on the right side and U.S. on the left. The front grip strap is milled checkering and the trigger is Aluminum. It has the correct checkered Walnut grips and the bore and mehanics are excellent. The magazine is "C-S" marked for Scovill Manuf. Co. a subcontactor to Colt. This is the first Drake National Match I have ever seen in 50 years of collecting. If you are looking for rare and condition this example has them both.
