RARE Unmodified DWM Swiss Model 1900 Luger in .30 Luger
* All-Matching & Original / No Prefix 3-Digit Serial # / BEAUTIFUL! *
Description: This is one of the "Holy Grail" Swiss Lugers that is sought after by both Swiss Luger and general Luger collector's alike, that is EXTREMELY difficult, often impossible to locate, a super-early 1st year production, 100% all-original and absolutely beautiful, D.W.M.-manufactured Swiss Model 1900 Luger that HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED TO ACCEPT NORMAL MAGAZINES, complete with it's original and un-altered factory magazine. This magazine is EXTREMELY rare in it's own right, as it has it's original near-flat and fully-checkered loading-button still intact (more on this later). This early 3-digit serial number gun is beautiful, and in excellent condition both inside and out. It is still in the exact-same confirguration that it originally left the D.W.M. factory in, even 123 years later !!! This is the first Swiss Model 1900 Luger that we have had in decades that has NOT been modified, as 99% plus of these early-production guns were modified very-shortly after being made, by machining-out the grip frame to allow all of the normal Luger magazines with the standard loading button to fit / work in it. Only the handful of "test pieces" and a small portion of the earliest production guns manufactured were made without this slot cut into the frame to start with, making it a very rare variation. BUT, because there was a monumental effort to get all of the early guns made this way back into the armory to have this slot cut into them, the number of un-modified guns still in existence today is absolutely miniscule. This is also very understandable from a practical standpoint, as the ONLY magazines that will fit and function in this pistol are the original-issue mags with the fully-checkered and thin button, although perhaps a person could use a normal Luger magazine in this pistol with the button removed. As you can see from the pictures, this is a very handsome Swiss Luger that has obviously been well cared-for over the years. The original D.W.M. factory-blue finish is still intact, as is the the yellow/gold colored "strawed" finish on some of the small parts. The factory blue is still bright, clean, shiny, and uniform in color across the gun, as-is the factory straw finish on the ejector/spring, the trigger, the extractor, the magazine release button, and the take-down lever. This beauty shows only some minor finish wear and thinning, primarily on the high edges and spots where it would have made contact with the leather when holstered. In fact, appears that VAST majority of the finish wear is from being carried and stored in a holster, rather than wear from being used and fired. This is readily apparent from where the finish wear is located, and further supported by the near-total lack of finish wear on the grip straps, grips, and all of the other areas that would show finish wear had it been fired more than a handful of times. What deductions there are on this pistol are ALL minor, and they are all superficial. There is no mechanical wear (lost material) visible on the internals, the bolt face is exceptionally clean, and the bore is minty and mirror-bright, with sharp lands and grooves from the chamber to the crown of the muzzle. The origial checkered Walnut grips are just as beautiful and free from wear as the rest of the pistol. Both grip panels are exceptionally clean and free from any staining, cracks, chips, repairs, or damage of any kind. Neither grip panel has been oil-soaked or soiled from oily and dirty hands, and the rear of each grip has a crisp "16" from the serial number stamped on the reverse. The checkering is still sharp and crisp, and the points are still intact. All of the markings on this Luger look like-new, sharp, evenly stamped, and 100% legible. All of the serial numbered parts are original and numbered, and all of them are factory matching. There are no re-numbered or replacement parts on this gun. This Swiss Luger is 100% functional in addition to being 100% original and matching. All of the controls on the gun work perfectly, and the action is slick but still tight and precise-feeling. There is no slop in any part of this pistol. The original factory magazine is also in excellent condition and in perfect working order. It is un-numbered on the wooden base, AS-IS PROPER for this model. They were NOT issued with serial-numbered magazines. THIS IS A CENTER-PIECE ADDITION TO ANY SERIOUS SWISS LUGER COLLECTION, AND EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT TO AN ADVANCED "GENERAL" LUGER COLLECTION THAT HAS VARIATIONS FROM NUMEROUS COUNTRIES WHERE THE LUGER WAS MILITARY-ISSUE AT SOME POINT IN HISTORY. There is not another Swiss Luger model that is harder to get or rarer than this ONE, other than a handful (less than 10, I've read) of Swiss Model 1900 "Test" Lugers mentioned earlier, and which cost many thousands more. This is a chance to get the 2nd rarest model there is of these Swiss Lugers, and a very special one at that! It would truly be near-impossible to upgrade from this example in ANY respect.
