Description: Fine WWII Japanese Type 14 8MM Pistol with Holster and 2 Matching Magazines Offered here for sale is this newly acquired original WWII vintage Japanese military WWII Type 14 8MM auto pistol. The Japanese Type 14 8mm Auto Pistol is a semi-automatic handgun that was used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The Type 14 was designed, 1934 (14th year of the Showa era). This handgun is chambered in 8mm Nambu, a cartridge that was standard for Japanese sidearms during the period. It was produced by Nambu Arms Manufacturing and used by the Japanese military during WWII. is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic pistol with a distinctive appearance. It has a relatively simple mechanism, designed for reliability and ease of use under harsh conditions. The standard magazine capacity is 8 rounds. The Type 14 is built with a steel frame and wooden grips, these particular grips are late war plain grips. The pistol carries a date "19.12" which refers to December of 1944, the production year. This specimen is DESIRABLE in that the pistol serial number 65069 is all original and has TWO matching magazines . Additional valuable is that the piece comes with its original clamshell design holster with extra firing pin. The canvas holster also comes with the pistol making this a complete overall package. The canvas holster however as we have sometimes seen before on canvas specimens is solid but very, very “tightened” state. That is it is not supple enough like leather that can be loosed to fit pistol. The small flap on front which holds cartridges is hard so that trying to open it will probably cause a fracture. We have not tried to soften to remedy (we leave that to a professional who can remedy it but As is but recommend it as display only besides the pistol. The pistol itself is in excellent used condition with an excellent bore. The grips are fine with the left panel having a set of initials inscribed on them-certainly war period. The holster is complete although the front flap is separated from the holster itself (the former owner stated that on the way to our shop to sell it he dropped the piece causing the separation. This cvan be easily re-stitched if desired. The front flap still securely buckles so it can be display as is. The two magazines are in fine used condition. The Type 14 8mm is considered one of the more collectible and historically significant pistols of the WWII era. The combination of the matching magazines, the extra firing pin, and the holster significantly enhances its value and collectibility.
