QUALITY CONSINGMENTS WANTED ! This pistol was made by Guide Lamp Corp. Of General Motors in 1942. The FP-45 designation was a secret code for this pistol. The FP-45 stood for Flare Projector Cal. 45. These pistols were set up and produced between June to August of 1942. There were one million of these pistols produced. The 1942 cost to produce these pistols was $2.10 each. They were not serial numbered or in any way coded as to date or who made them. They were made as a insurgency weapon to be dropped behind enemy lines to supply freedom fighters a alternate weapon until they could replace this pistol with better captured enemy guns. This pistol is in good working order. The unrifled barrel is clean with no pitting or rust.The hollow pistol grip has a place for 9 E.C. 43 Steel case 45 A.C.P. shells in the compartment. The action works correctly and is shootable. However, I do not recommend doing so as this pistol was made to be used a few times and then thrown away. Very few of these pistols survived the war. After the war most of them were scrapped and destroyed. This pistol is a piece of World War Two history for clandestine action and OSS operations. Would be a great addition to any military collection.
