** SOLD ** WW1 German Military Mauser Model 1914 .32 ACP Pistol w/ Police Unit Markings
* 1920 Weimar Republic Rebuild *
Description: This is a very neat old Mauser Model 1914 "Pocket Pistol" in .32 ACP built for World War 1, and then rebuilt and reissued to a police unit in 1920 by Germany's Weimar Republic. It shows an average amount of wear and tear on the exterior that you would expect to see on a pistol that most likely saw front line service in WW1, then likely spent at least 20 years in service during the 1920's and 30's with German police, and then most likely saw at least some service with the police after the Nazi party came to power. It is not import marked and was probably brought home as a war trophy with an American G.I. during or after WW2. All of the numbered parts are matching and the gun appears to be 100% original as a Weimar-rework. The reworks that the Weimar Republic oversaw post WW1 in 1920 varied greatly, with some guns just inspected and nothing changed, while other were completely rebuilt with all new small parts, any parts with wear or damage, and a new blue finish. This particular example appears to have been just inspected, the rusty spots lightly buffed, the German Military regiment/unit markings buffed-off, and then reblued before being reissued. Once reissued, it was then stamped with whatever police district/department it was assigned to. As you can see from the pictures, all of the factory and police markings are all still 100% legible and deep, as are the serial numbers stamped on various parts. The Weimar-reblued finish shows quite a bit of both superficial wear and thinning, with a gray-blue overall look to the gun. The finish on the front grip strap shows the most wear, essentially worn away to show gray-colored bare metal. The original 1-piece checkered Walnut grip is still intact, and it shows pretty heavy wear as it is the same grip that has been on it since WW1. The worst of the damage is along the right side rear edge where it has broken length-wise and been repaired. The bore in this Model 1914 is very good, showing strong rifling throughout with no pitting. The mechanics within the gun are just as good, with a smooth action and perfect lock-up when in battery. All of the controls are in perfect working order, including the unique but somewhat fragile safety mechanism. The original magazine that comes with this pistol is in great shape and functions perfectly. We have no doubt that it will function and fire just aswell today as it did more than 100 years ago when it left the Mauser factory. If you are collector that appreciates pieces with lots of both military and police history that show wear from being in combat and police service this Model 1914 would be a perfect addition to your collection.
