WW2 1940 Mauser 42 Code Luger w/ Matching Magazine
REDUCED!
Description: This is a nice honest and original World War 2 German Luger complete with one of the original serial numbered magazines. This is a Mauser made Luger stamped with the war-time code assigned to the firm, "42". The top of the chamber is stamped with the date of manufacture, 1940. We stripped this Luger down to check all of the numbered parts including the grips to make sure they match, and they all match with the exception of the toggle pin which is completely un-numbered. These were frequently lost during cleaning in the field during the war, and this is likely an armorer's replacement. The finish is also 100% factory original and has not been altered in any way. This 42 code Luger shows some light wear consistent with an issued pistol that was used in combat but well cared-for. Specifically, the high edges and sideplate show finish wear from being holster carried and the grip straps show some thinning of the blue finish from being handled and shot. The original checkered Walnut grips are in good shape overall, with only a visible defect on the left grip panel below the safety lever, where someone was careless removing the panel and took a chip off the edge. This is very common due to the grip design and does not detract much from the pistol. Both grips are serial numbered to the gun and stamped with a Waffenamt. The bore in this pistol still shows good rifling but has a frosted (light pitting) look to it. It still should shoot great if the new owner so chooses. Everything on this Luger works 100% like the day it left Mauser's factory. The action is smooth and locks into battery perfectly. All of the controls work properly as-designed. It comes with one of the original double-Waffenamt proofed factory magazines that were serial numbered to the gun (the "+" mag). It is in excellent original condition and should function perfectly. As you can see in the pictures, this Luger is still very attractive and has a great combat-used look to it. If you have been looking for a nice original WW2 Luger for your collection that looks like it saw some actual action in combat, this 1940 42-code Luger would be a great choice. As long as reasonable care is used, it shows enough wear that the new owner could shoot it without harming it's investment value. Reduced to $1995!
