SOVIET EAST GERMAN VOLKSPOLIZEI SIDEARM

Here we present a C&R DWM P.08 Luger Pistol. This pistol was made in Berlin in 1937 and used in the days of re-armament leading up to World War II, through the war, and then used in East Germany under Soviet Russian occupation through the Cold War. When the Third Reich was defeated, this pistol would have been kept in service under Soviet rule in the hands of the Deutsche Volkspolizei (VoPo, VP, DVP), literally translated as the German People’s Police. It is thought that these stayed serviceable until the reunification of Germany in 1990!

As you can see, it is matching aside from the barrel and magazine, which was replaced during a refurbishment process, then it was dipped in their signature “black” bluing. A pair of the bullseye motif grips round out the subject, making it fit for further service for security services in the East. While it bears some later proofs on the left side of the gun, it retains its original Third Reich “eagle/85” proofs on the right.

The overall condition is near fine. Armory refinished. The action is excellent. The bore is in great shape: bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid. The numbers on the gun match while the magazine does not.
