Early S Code Krieghoff P.09 Luger - 1936 - 9mm
Description:
This is an early (made in 1936) S Code Krieghoff with all matching numbers, excluding the magazine. The original finish is in the 92-94% range with the straw color small parts showing about 80% of the original finish. Most of the wear is found on the grips straps (typical wear) as they are duller and a bit more patina than the rest of the gun. Also a few thin scratches on the left side of the frame. It comes with the early, fine checkered Ritz grips. The mechanics are very good and bore is excellent. The gun was part of a Luftwaffe contract with many of these guns going to pilots and paratroopers, with production numbers being very low for each year they were made. Only about 1,500 of the S Code Krieghoffs were issued. This gun has correct Luftwaffe Eagle L/2 proofs on the frame, barrel, toggle, magazine as well as many small parts such as the hold open, the firing pin and then rear toggle pin. The gun is all correct and original with the exception of the magazine. It is a Krieghoff mag, but numbered to a different gun. The 3rd digit on the magazine is over-stamped but since it is non-matching, it probably does not affect the value.
