DWM 1906 Bulgarian Contract Luger in 9mm Luger Caliber
** Very Rare All-Original Bulgarian Luger ** SOLD
Description: This is a very attractive all-original and all-matching (except for magazine) 1906 Bulgarian contract Luger made by DWM. These Luger's are rare as there were only roughly 1,500 of them made total during the 1 year of production in 1906. These 1906 Bulgarian Luger's feature the Bulgarian national crest stamped over the chamber area with "DWM" on the middle toggle. The serial number range started and 1 and went to approximately 1,500. These guns are unique in that they have a grip safety, and the safety lever is reversed from most Lugers and marked "Fire" in Bulgarian rather "Secured" in German (Gesichert). Originally these Luger's had a 4.75" barrel and were chambered in 7.65mm (.30 Luger) but more than 95% of them were sent back the arsenal in the 1920's and 1930's and reworked and rebarreled to 9mm Luger. These 1906 Bulgarian Luger's went on to serve in World War 1, the interwar years, and thru World War 2. This particular example is serial number 1215 and remains in very good original condition. The arsenal blue finish rates 80% with spots of finish wear and handling marks indicative of an issued and combat-used weapon. As you can see from the pictures, it is an attractive pistol with no bad spots or eyesores. All of the numbered parts are matching, with the barrel, toggle pin, hold-open, and grips being un-numbered. The bore is very good in this Luger with nice strong rifling throughout the 4" inch aresnal-installed 9mm barrel. There are no bad spots, bulges, or visible erosion in the bore, only just a touch of frosting in the grooves between the shiny lands. The checkered Walnut un-numbered grips are in good shape and free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. Both sides are perfectly fit to the gun and tight with no wiggle, showing some handling marks and wear consistent with the rest of the gun. All of the controls on this 1906 Bulgarian Luger are in perfect working order, and the action is slick and precise. We have no doubt that it would function perfectly if the new owner chooses to shoot it. This 1906 Bulgarian comes with one original WW1 vintage German Military marked magazine, in very good condition and perfect working order. If you have been looking for one of these rare and sought-after 1906 Bulgarian contract Lugers here is a honest all-original example at a great price.
