1983 Vintage Walther Interarms PPK/S .380 ACP Pistol w/ Box, Test Target, Paperwork, & 3 Magazines
** Handsome Lightly Used Example **
Description: This is a beautiful all-original Walther PPK/S .380 ACP Pistol manufactured in 1983 under license by Interarms. This VERY lightly used example comes with it's original box with an intact serial-numbered end-label, the warranty paperwork, the Interarms Warning pamphlet, the factory test target, and 3 total magazines (2 factory Walther mags, 1 Mec-Gar mag). The Walther PPK/S pistol was originally developed after the 1968 import ban was passed which made the normal PPK illegal to import due to it's overall size/weight. In order to market a importable version of essentially the same pistol model, Walther mated the PP model's slightly larger frame to the PPK model's slide and barrel. The additional weight of the larger PP frame was enough for the pistol to pass the import regulations and it had the added bonus of an additional one round of magazine capacity. Production of the PPK/S would eventually move from Germany to France, and then to the United States under license from Walther to Interarms in 1983. Once production was moved to the U.S., the import rules were no longer in play but the PPK/S remained in production due to it's popularity. Since it's introduction, the PPK/S has proven to be one of the all-time classic pistol designs of modern history. The design was very well engineered to be both reliable and accurate. Small enough to be concealable but large enough to be comfortable to shoot and manipulate, the PPK/S has also been a favorite for concealed carry. This particular example is serial number 034267 manufactured by Interarms of Virginia in the first year of U.S. production, 1983. It has obviously spent the vast majority of it's life in storage, as it remains in 96-97% condition inside and out. If not for just the slightest touch of high-edge wear at the front of the slide and a few tiny handling marks it would be near-mint. As you can see from the pictures, the 3-4% deduction does not detract any appreciable amount from the exceptionally clean overall look of this PPK/S. All of the factory markings are crisp and clean, and both the slide serrations and the grooved (matted) topstrap are in perfect shape. Even the original red paint on in the safety/decocker recess is still 100% intact and bright. The bore in this Walther is perfect, mirror-bright and pristine with perfect, sharp rifling form the chamber to the crown of the muzzle. The exterior of the barrel "in the white" is still bright and clean as well, free from any staining or pitting. The glossy black checkered plastic grips are in excellent condition with both sides free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear of any kind. The checkering is crisp and sharp on both grip panels, and both grips are tight to the gun with no wiggle. The internals and action of this PPK/S are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior. The action is smooth and precise, and the slide-to-frame fitment is superb. All of the controls on this Walther are in perfect working order, including the safety/decocker. This PPK/S has not even begun to be "broken-in" yet and still retains 99% of it's service life. There is no doubt that it will function just as well today as the day it left the factory 38 years ago. As mentioned earlier, this Walther Interarms PPK/S comes with it's original factory plastic box (with the serial-numbered end-label fully intact), the factory test target (also serial-numbered to this gun), some Interarms paperwork, and 3 magazines total. There are two factory magazines, one with a finger extension and one without, and one aftermarket Mec-Gar magazine, all of which are in perfect working order. If you have been looking for a .380 ACP Walther PPK/S for your collection that is both very high-quality and very high-condition, this 1983-production Interarms PPK/S would be an excellent choice. In addition to being much more collectible, these Interarms Walthers are far better looking and a lot better-made than the later S&W-made examples from the late 1990's and 2000's.
