High Standard HDM OSS Pistol suppressed USA Model HD
Description: MULTIPLE HOST PISTOLS ARE IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE BUILDS, BOTH "USA MODEL HD" AND "HD MILITARY" BUILD PRICES RANGE FROM $2500-$4000. CONTACT ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS A CUSTOM BUILD LIKE THIS ONE SPECIAL HOST PISTOL: The host pistol for this build is an original/correct High Standard USA Model HD. This is the exact model used for the original OSS pistols. This particular pistol's Serial Number (118137) falls within the same serial number range as the original 2500 OSS pistols. While it was not originally an OSS/Suppressed pistol, it would have sat next to some of the original OSS pistols on the assembly line. Records show this pistol was shipped to the War Department in 1945. It's serial nunber is very near a cluster of verified OSS pistols (per John Stimson's records). This gun came to me in excellent mechanical condition, but had some cosmetic issues. I generally prefer to leave the factory finish on these historic pistols, but in this case a complete restoration was the preferred route. It has been completely restored to NIB condition, including the period-correct manganese phosphate parkerized finish.------------------------------------------------------------------- This is an accurate replica of the High Standard Model HDM (HDMS, HD M/S). There were only ~2500 originals made, being issued to the OSS beginning in 1943, seeing combat in several different theaters during WWII. When the OSS was disbanded and was replaced by the CIA, the remaining pistols were transferred to the CIA inventory. Since then the pistols have also been in the inventories of several different US Special Operations organizations. There is documentation of these still being in service as late as the Gulf War in the 1990’s (the High Standard company rebuilt some for the US military at that time). The original pistols were built on High Standard USA Model HD pistols, which the Army was using as training pistols at the time. The first run delivered to OSS had blued frames and parkerized suppressor tubes, the second run had parkerized frames and tubes. The OSS guns retained the “Property of U.S.” markings. It is said that guns were also made for the CIA that did not have the property marks. These guns gained some notoriety during the cold war when the Russians captured the gun belonging to Francis Gary Powers when his U2 spy plane was shot down. That gun is still in a Moscow museum to this day.————————— For this project I was able to photograph and measure an original OSS HDM pistol (amnesty registered with unquestionable provenance). This replica keeps the following correct external appearance and details: Exact suppressor tube length, with all measurements and spacings correct, correct manganese phosphate finish. It also (correctly) does not have a shoulder at the rear of the tube. Exactly correct soldered-on front sight, made from the host gun's original front sight, Exactly correct front cap including correct knurling, measurements, and blued finish. Correct black plastic grips in NEW condition. Internally this pistol features a 3.5" non-ported barrel and 9 modern aluminum K baffles. The originals used screen rolls and discs which had to be cleaned and rebuilt often (cleaned every 20 rounds, rebuilt every few hundred). To my ear the suppressor sounds on par with the best modern models. It can be taken apart and cleaned just as modern silencers can. Included are close reproduction of original box, and EXACT reproduction of all original box labels, stampings, original papers and instructions. This includes papers/instructions that came with all USA Model HD’s (and HD Military), and those particular to the Silenced HDM OSS guns (see photos from Dr Brunner’s book). Also included is a Remington M24 .22 box of the correct type originally issued with the OSS guns. Also included is a new-in-wrapper copy of Dr Brunner’s book “OSS Weapons II”. This book is the best reference on the OSS guns that I have found, in my years of research. It is now out of print, I obtained the some of the last ones from the publisher, he indicates there will be no more printings. FOR VIDEO OF ONE OF THESE GUNS BEING TEST-FIRED, SEARCH “High Standard HDMS” ON YOUTUBE. This is a working silencer and subject to all NFA regulations. It is on a Form 3 and must be transferred to a “Class 3” (SOT) dealer in your state. Once payment is cleared, it can be to your dealer in a week or 2. Your dealer then transfers to you on a Form 4 requiring $200 tax stamp SOLD Handgun Caliber: .22 Long Rifle Manufacturer: High Standard Model: HDM Serial Number: 118137 Condition: New Build |
