1950's Vintage High Standard H-D Military .22LR Pistol ** Nice Honest All-Original Example **

Description:
This is a very nice all-original High Standard H-D Military semi-automatic .22 LR pistol manufactured sometime most likely in the early 1950's.  The H-D Military Model was not actually made for the U.S. Military despite the name, but was a commercial model made by High Standard from 1946 until 1955.  The H-D Military model featured a gloss blue finish, a 4.5" or 6.75" inch medium-heavy profiled barrel, a blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight that was drift adjustable for windage, a left-side mounted thumb safety, a right-side mounted slide stop, an adjustable trigger, checkered plastic (early) or checkered Walnut grips, and a 10-shot detachable magazine.  The H-D Military was a commercial success and quickly earned a reputation for being an excellent .22 caliber pistol that was both very reliable and accurate.  When production ended in 1955 High Standard had produced approximately 143,000 pistols of this model.  This particular example is serial number 268645, and it is in very good original condition.  The original gloss blue factory finish is still very attractive and bright, showing only some minor handling marks and light finish wear on some of the high edges and the grip straps.  As you can see from the pictures, there are no "eyesores" on this pistol, and the worst of the handling marks is on the forward 1/3rd of the right side of the slide.  The bore in the 6.75" inch barrel is excellent, mirror-bright with sharp rifling.  There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible whatsoever.  The original checkered Walnut grips on this High Standard are in excellent condition.  Both grip panels are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents.  Both grip panels have crisp, clean checkering and both grips are tight to the frame with no wiggle.  The action on this H-D Military is smooth and slick, and all of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order.  We have no doubt that this pistol will function just like the day it left the factory more than 60 years ago.  It comes complete with one original 10-round factory magazine, which is in excellent condition and 100% functional.  If you have been looking for a neat vintage .22 auto pistol for your collection to enjoy as both an investment and shooter, this High Standard H-D Military would be the perfect choice.
