Heckler & Koch USP 9 V7 LEM 4.25” 15+1 SKU 81000311 New in Box
Description: Originally designed for the U.S. market, the USP has also seen use worldwide with various military and law enforcement organizations. The qualities of the USP’s design, such as strength and durability, allow it to provide excellent service as a military/LE pistol. Although the Mark 23 pistol is well-known for the rigorous testing it went through, it is less well known that the USP went through similar tests at around the same time. Abuse and function testing of the USP (in .40 S&W) involved firing more than 20,000 rounds of ammunition without a component failure. Also conducted were MILSPEC environmental tests in both high and low temperatures, in mud, immersed in water, and in salt spray. The highest temperature was 67 deg. Celsius or 152.6 deg Fahrenheit, while the lowest temperature was -42 deg. Celsius or -43.6 deg. Fahrenheit. The test specifically involved freezing the pistol at the lowest temperature, firing it, freezing it again, then suddenly heating it to the maximum temperature and firing again. This process was repeated over and over to test for warping of the metal in the slide. In the end, the USP survived this series of tests with no adverse effects. In one of the more insane tests, a bullet was intentionally lodged in the barrel and a round was fired with the intention of using the fired bullet to clear the obstruction. As a testament to the strength of the USP’s design, the barrel was successfully cleared with only minor structural deformation and the pistol continued to produce consistent groups on the target when test fired for accuracy. The measured distance was 25 meters with the total group being under 4 inches in size. Barrel length for the standard USP is 4.25 inches. This example is SKU # 81000311. It is the standard USP 9 with V7 trigger system. The V7 has no manual safety and uses H&K’s patented Law Enforcement Modification (LEM) trigger system. The “V” in “V7” represents the term “Version” while the number is self-explanatory. The LEM trigger operates similar to a Double-Action Only trigger system. However, there are slight differences. Under the LEM system, the hammer will always return to the DA position (i.e., forward) after each shot is fired. Pulling the trigger gives a feeling similar to pulling the trigger on a DA/SA pistol with the hammer already in the cocked position – there is a bit of take-up, and then the trigger hits the break point. However, unlike the DA/SA pistol, the hammer of the LEM system moves rearward as the trigger is pulled, just like a standard DAO pistol. The difference is simply in how easy it is to pull the trigger. As stated in the manual, the LEM system will ALWAYS be activated via the slide passing over the hammer. The only time that the USP 9 V7 will operate in the traditional DAO mode is when the slide does not recoil out of battery as a result of either a weak primer strike and/or a failure for the cartridge to ignite. This new in box pistol comes with two 15-round magazines, a key for the lock-out device, and a manual.
