Shortened British Brass-Barreled Flintlock Pistol by Williams
Description: NSN, .72 Caliber, 6 1/4" part octagon barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a handsome pistol that has a shortened barrel and forend, deduced by the tarnish pattern along the underside of the barrel, as well as the uneven rounding of what remains of the forend tip. The brass barrel and furniture have an overall bright yellow-ochre patina with some scattered spots of darker tarnish scattered throughout. The "Williams" marked lock has an overall plum-brown patina with some mild freckling present as well. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks scattered about the thick varnish finish, with some further chips along the trailing edge of the lockplate, and a large chip missing from the tip of the forend. The pistol comes with a correct length iron ramrod, and the lock is fully functional. This pistol was made in the early 1700s, and is a handsome example of a brass barreled British traveling pistol.
