c1900 mfr GOLD, ENGRAVED Single Shot GERMAN PARLOR TARGET Pistol BUG Proofs 4mm Flobert/Rimfire for Use Indoors!
Description: c1900 mfr GOLD, ENGRAVED Single Shot GERMAN PARLOR TARGET Pistol BUG Proofs 4mm Flobert/Rimfire for Use Indoors! Here we present a German Proofed Single Shot “Parlor” pistol in 4mm rimfire, made circa 1900. This example has a beautifully engraved gilt, or gold plated cast frame. It has German “Crown/B”, “Crown/U”, and “Crown/G” proofs on the bottom of the barrel. The front sight is a very fine post and bead protected by wings. Single set trigger. Beautifully balanced with the weight in the hand due to the large grip and pommel and the slender but sculpted barrel. This is very much like Stevens pistols of the mid-to-late 19th Century. Parlor pistols came into fashion in the mid-19th century, where they typically featured heavy barrels and were chambered in a small caliber. They were used for target shooting in homes with a dedicated parlor or gallery for this purpose. Other guns of this type include “Gallery Guns”, “Flobert Guns”, and “Saloon Guns”, all designed for recreational indoor target shooting. These guns were developed in 1845, when French inventor Louis-Nicolas Flobert created the first rimfire metallic cartridge by modifying a percussion cap to hold a small lead bullet. These games were popular in saloon, at carnivals, and as mentioned above, in people’s homes during this period. The overall condition is fine. Original blue and gold finish. The action is excellent and the trigger works whether set (pushed forward for a light, crisp pull) or not. The grips are solid and in great shape with nice checkering and hand-carved designs. A handsome piece in pristine condition and a promising precision pistol! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 10-5/8 inches. Caliber: 4mm rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2000 #227611 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
