Percussion Officers Pistol
Description:
A beautiful percussion pistol by the well respected firm of WILLIAMS & POWELL that was located in Liverpool ( marked on the barrel) England. It is an Officers Model, also called a "Man Stopper" because of its large .54 caliber. This pistol would rate Fine/Excellent by NRA Antique standards. The 6" octogon damascus steel barrel has two gold bands near the hammer, a sign of high quality.The overall length is 11& 1/2". About 98% of the barrel finish remains . About 90% of the blue remains on the other metal parts except the belt hook which was left bright and blued at the end. . The 3/4 walnut stock is in excellent condition . The grip is finely checkered. The sliding safety is non functional. There is nice engraving on: the trigger guard, screws, the lock and hammer, and at the breech end of the barrel ( with two gold bands). The gold bands are an indication of superior workmanship. .The hammer holds on full and half cock. The action is strong. There is a blank escutcheon plate on the rear of the handgrip
This gunmaker was in business from 1844 to 1892.. This pistol would make a fine addition to anyones collection.. A piece of history that has been well preserved.. It is an antique so no FFL is required. It can be sent directly to a new proud owner.
