Collector/Engineer's Set of 4x High Standard 102, 103 Olympics, Citations, and Supermatic Trophy in 22 short (22s) plus spare magazine and 22lr barrel
Description:
Excetional set of
Two competition accuracy and quality Hi Standard match pistols but each can be purchased separately: a truly championship-quality Citation, and an ISU 103.
Current retail value of the
pair offered is
approximately $3000, considering the rarity of one of them (only a few of this quality were made by Hi Standard), quality and condition of the 103, and the extra magazines and accessories. If interested in purchasing, please email an offer to consider. An offer of about $2650 plus shipping for the pair, magazines, and extra barrel is likely to be accepted. Phone calls are fine, but due to the number of junk calls received and call filtering, email is better for initial contact. Basis for the offer, including reasons for request of the items as a gift for charitable or other purposes, can be considered. Discount is available if combined with some of the other firearms.
Among the match or target quality 22s pistols, those from Hi Standard are somewhat unique, in being able to cycle (at least sometimes) with .22s CB ammunition, due to the absence of venting of the barrels. Nearly all other competitionor match 22s pistols have vented barrels, and will not cycle with the CB ammunition.
Of the originaly offered set of 4, half were sold separately. Both are "competition" quality, but the 102 Citation is at the international competition/Olympic level. While Hi Standard marketed a commemorative "Olympic" pistol in 1980, that particular model and series (of approximately 1000 guns) was Olympic in name only, was not a true copy of the gun used to win the Olympic competition, and are not usually of competition quality, being made made for collector and decorative markets. This Citation 102, offered here, is a rare, true competition quality gun at the international or Olympic level, specifically was made for the championship marksman level of use and user. The 103 ISU model was a "lesser" level of quality, but still at a level designed (at the time) for national and international competition. The different type of muzzle brake used on the 103 provides better accuracy than the alternative on the 102, if that gun is used with the muzzle brake.
The set of
two remaining guns include
three extra OEM 10 rd. magazines, 2 of them blued and one in stainless steel, one with the original "extra magazine" box with a total of 5x, 10 rd magazines,, and a .22lr barrel, for which $2650 will be
an acceptable sale price. The OEM extra magazine usually is $150 when available. The barrel usually is around $200-275. The spare barrel can be purchased separately, as well. The spare magazines are available either with the complete set at the price as stated above, or in lesser quantity, with an individual gun purchase, but are
not for sale separately without the gun(s).
SN matched box for the 103 ISU, with cleaning tool. The extra magazines are not for sale separately from the guns.
Both guns have the
original, hardwood Hi Standard contoured target grips. The extra magazines have been evaluated to be sure they function with these guns.
The prices for
individual guns if sold separately are
- special sights and markings Olympic Citation 102 with 2 weights, removable muzzle brake, tool, spare extractor). An extremely rare gun, primarily for Eurpean competition matches. Virtually unknown in the US. A rare gun, specifically for competition or operations field use with unusual accuracy. $1670 would likely be accepted if offered, but this does not include extra magazines.
- Olympic 103 ISU (not marked trophy or citation, SN matched box, papers, cleaning tool). Also with 2 original barrel weights. Essentially the same gun as the 103 Citation and Trophy, but made later in the production run, when the Citation and Trophy markings had been discontinued. $960 likely would be accepted if offered, but again this does not include extra magazines.
If purchased as single guns, one of the extra magazines can be purchased with a single gun, at extra cost.
Each gun has the OEM pair of barrel weight, and where originally separate, the removable muzzle brakes. Although purchased in Germany, no German proofing date marks are evident.
Both have 6.75” tapered barrels with enlarged ends in 22 short (22s) caliber but a barrel is included permitting use with special 22lr ammunition. Both are Hamden manufacture, and use feed ramps that are integral with the magazine.
Additional details, starting with the oldest or earliest manufactured, are:
1. Olympic Citation 102. Gold lettering throughout except for SN, some loss of blue on trigger. Extensive additional barrel markings, special red and white sight picture, slight mars on bracket for weight and frame that are underneath the bluing, and probably from factory processing of the gun. SN places manufacture in 1958. Removable muzzle brake with the original screws.
2. Olympic 103
ISU model (integral muzzle brake). No gold trim, grey-black finish on trigger. SN places manufacture in 1959. Not marked as Trophy or Citation.
SN-matched box (illustrated) stating model as 9299. Cleaning tool included.
The
three (3) extra OEM 10rd 22s magazines that will fit either gun. The .22lr barrel can be used with either of them so long as
only very low velocity .22lr ammunition is used. Some tools, the one box originally provided with the 103 also are included, and one original box for one of the two extra magazines are included..
These are included in the price for the complete set at no additional charge.
If the guns are for current use as precision firearms, please note that the 22s guns may require careful, precise adjustment specific to the ammunition used, or the ambient temperature of operation. Eley 22s ammunition, in particular can be problematic for feeding due to slightly larger front rim size. The magazines do interchange between these guns, but this not in general true of Hi Standard competition pistols.
