Description: 1906 Made ADAMS CO. Marked COLT POLICE POSITIVE .38 New Police Revolver C&R VERY NICE Historic Colt Marked “ADAMS CO/DENVER” Here we present a C&R Adams Co. Marked Colt Police Positive, made in 1906 by the Colt Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut, with a production run from 1905 through 1947. The Colt Police Positive is a small-frame, double-action revolver featuring a six-round cylinder chambered for either .32 or .38 caliber. It was also later offered in .22 caliber cartridges. Designed primarily for sale to federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies, the Police Positive was introduced into the overall firearms market by Colt's Manufacturing Company in 1905. The Colt Police Positive was an improvement of Colt's earlier “New Police” revolver, upgraded with an internal hammer block safety. In 1840, Alvin Adams was an enterprising businessman who started a new company with little more than “two men, a boy and a wheelbarrow”. The primary business was the carrying of small parcels, bank drafts and other valuables between Boston, Worcester, Norwich, New London and New York City utilizing steamboats and railroads. The business routes expanded rapidly and at the start of the gold rush, a new trans-continental business venture was started. In 1854, the Adams Express Company was formally incorporated on July 1. Adams Express was a combination of Adams & Company plus eight other express companies. The initial public offering was July 1, 1854. The Adams Express company was valued at $1 million. Even today, 185 years later, Adams is still in existence. The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. Excellent action. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. Both grips are fine. Markings are sharp. This example has British proofs marked on the barrel, frame, and cylinder. The right side of the barrel Is marked "D644". The butt is marked "ADAMS CO/DENVER". Own the original!
