Colt 22 Automatic (Pre-Woodsman) Semi Auto Pistol Chambered in .22 Long Rifle **Mfg 1916 - Mechanically Excellent**

Description:
Here we have a Colt Automatic chambered in .22 long rifle caliber. This 1916 mfg gun was made before the name "Woodsman" was used starting in 1927. The Colt Woodsman sprang from a design by John Moses Browning and was refined by gunsmiths and designers at Colt's before its introduction in 1915. John Browning developed the Woodsman with a short slide, no grip safety and no hammer. These features were in place on his Model 1903 and 1911 designs, but a handgun intended for target use did not require them. This particular example is in very good condition overall with only slight high edge wear and handling marks. The 6 1/2 inch barrel has some wear near the muzzle on the sides and a little finish loss. The bore is bright and has strong rifling. The wood grip panels are in very good condition exhibiting no cracks or chips. The gun comes with one magazine. This beautiful Pre Woodsman would make a great addition to an existing collection of Colt pistols or a strong way to start a new collection. This fine Colt would make a great investment as well.
