The Colt Delta Elite is a modified series 80 M1911 pistol chambered for the 10mm Auto cartridge. The Generation 1 (1987–1996) Delta Elite retained the standard M1911 design with minor differences from the Series 80 derivative. Reintroduced in 2009 (Generation 2), the Delta Elite featured carbon steel construction and heavier recoil springs. Significant upgrades were introduced in 2016 (Generation 2.5), including Novak sights, an undercut trigger guard, dual spring recoil assembly, high ride upswept beavertail grip safety with palm swell, composite stocks, a lightened three-hole aluminum trigger, a speed skeletonized hammer, extended thumb safety, tighter tolerances, and angled rear cocking serrations. The modern Delta Elite offers the power to hunt medium-sized game with near .41 Magnum ballistics in a legendary 1911 style pistol, featuring an upswept beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety, and genuine Novak white dot sights. Its composite grips with Delta Medallions ensure shooting comfort.
