Antique COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY mfg 1875 no FFL
SALE PENDING
Description: This is a SAA Colt Single Action Army revolver manufactured in 1875. It is an early gun, made in the first two years of production. SAAs this early are seldomly seen. It has been cleaned in the long ago past but still shows surface corrosion. Its condition suggests that it likely went through the Mexican Revolution during 1910-1917 and the barrel and cylinder were changed at some point. The Colt markings on the top of the barrel are nearly all readable. On the side of the barrel WCF can barely be read. The pistol is 38 WCF. All other markings have been removed long ago, but all serial numbers are clear and easily readable. It is in very solid functioning mechanical condition, with a complete range of crisp clicks when cocked, and the hammer cocks solidly all the way to the rear. This gun appears to have been in the same condition for more than a hundred years. The serial number is 15278 which indicates manufacture in 1875. Like nearly all guns in this condition it likely saw a great deal of usage while being carried on horseback in inclement weather. This revolver is being sold as a collector item and should not be fired without a competent gunsmith’s examination. Return only if substantially misrepresented. MISSING GRIPS.
