COLT BLACK ARMY 1911 .45 ACP in serial number 478146, date of manufacture 1918, no inspector's cartouche, eagle over 4 acceptance stamp on left frame behind trigger, no armory stamps, "P" on barrel with 45 Colt stamp, original two-tone magazine, "H" stamp above firing pin retainer. The original finish, dark black, names the pistol in this serial number range "BLACK ARMY". This finish is all original and dark black. The bore is bright and glossy and the grips are original diamond checkered. The checkering is not as sharp as it was 106 years ago. The knurling on the hammer is still very sharp and all of the stamps and letters are sharp and legible. This is a genuine, original piece of Colt/WWI history. EXCEPTIONAL! Earlier today, 12-19-24, I took this pistol to an indoor range and shot it 30 rounds at 3 different distances: 10, 20 and 30 yards. The pistol shoots great...like new.
