Pre-War 1st Series 1928 Vintage Colt Woodsman .22 Automatic Pistol

Description: This is a very nice honest and all-original pre-war Colt Woodsman manufactured in 1928. It is a "1st Series" gun serial number 60665, designed for .22 Long Rifle ammunition in standard velocity only. The original blue finish is attractive and still shows a lot of glossy finish on most of the pistol, but does show some wear particularly on the sides of the slide and the sides of the barrel near the muzzle. This wear pattern is typical of a pistol that was carried and stored in a leather holster for a long period. The leather tanning chemicals are most likely responsible for the finish loss rather than actual wear from firing the pistol. The mechanics of this Woodsman are superb, and both the frame rails and internal parts show almost no wear which tells us that this pistol has spent most of it's life in storage. The bore in this Colt is pristine, mirror-bright with no pitting, erosion, bulges, dents, or imperfections of any kind. The original factory full-checkered Walnut grips are still in-place and in great shape. Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, or major damage, and they are perfectly fit to the gun. The checkering shows a little wear particularly on the left side (from holster carry on the right hip), but overall the grips are very attractive and look consistent with the rest of the gun. All of the controls on this 1st Series Woodsman are in perfect working order, and the slide to frame fit is excellent with no slop. We have no doubt this Woodsman would shoot just as well today as when it left the factory 91 years ago. This Colt Woodsman comes with the original 2-tone factory magazine, which is in excellent condition. If you have been looking for one of these classic Colt .22 pistols for your collection here is your chance to get a nice original 1st Series pistol that you could enjoy as both an investment and as a shooter.
