1952 Colt Woodsman Match Target, Gold Inlayed Engraved by George Sherwood, Gorgeous, Cased, Trades Welcome
Description: 1952 Colt Woodsman Match Target. George Sherwood Master Engraved Semi Auto chambered in .22 Long Rifle! According to the serial number this example left the factory in 1952. Sherwood was encouraged to pursue engraving by Winchester Master Engravers George Ulrich and John Kusmit during his time working for Winchester Repeating Arms in the early 1940s. After serving in WWII, Sherwood attended the University of California majoring in law and industrial relations. In 1974, Sherwood began his career as a full time engraver, and would go on to write the book "Firearms Engraving Theory and Design". Sherwood passed away in 1999. This Woodsman is wearing the stunning Blue finish with "Deluxe" 24K Gold engraving that is out of this world! It is outfitted with a 4" barrel and rounded out with the factory wood grips! The overall condition is EXCELLENT showing normal signs of use. It will ship in the custom wood presentation case as shown!! This piece is signed “SHERWOOD-ENGRAVED” under the left grip panel!
